Winter Afternoons Lost Among the City Arcades, followed by a Fashion Party

There's those afternoons you need when you literally can't focus for another minute on your homework. The last couple of weeks have been extremely stressful being quite ill and missing a couple of classes. I feel like i'm staying afloat with the bulk of my homework and keeping sane but all the same there's only so much time in which you can spend being conscientious and planning every minute of every day. It felt like a lovely time to get out of the house and meet for a coffee with a fellow blogger. Menswear Stylist/Blogger Jerry of JerryOco is a good friend of mine and an innovative logical voice on Menswear. He's new to the blogosphere but very ambitious and full of ideas, so chatting to him about our respective blogs and new possibilities for them seemed like the perfect uni distraction. We went of one of my favourite City Cafés: A Little Bird Told Me..., where I got a Green Tea (slightly irregular for me but admittedly cleansing), and some Bircher Museli. The conversation was style-set and amazing, and then afterwards we wandered on a window-shopping spree through the CBD, in particular through the Arcades. A moment to stop and lust over the Karl Lagerfeld Crystal Collections at Orrefors Kosta-Boda. Then Continuing onto the new Givenchy and Lanvin collections at Marais. Between that add into it an elderly woman stopping to compliment my new shoes (day made!) and finding an amazing copy of the latest UOMO Men's Collection Magazine in MagNation.

Then it was going back home to knock out a few hours of homework before the evening's party. Tonight I was invited to the two afterparties for the WSM Lanch, held at the beautiful Pretty Porter store in Toorak Village. It was definitely an experience in itself! Picture this... inside the store Socialites and models milling around, mingling with TV stars and local designers. Champagne cascading freely with the excited chatter and luxurious clinking of crystal glass flutes toasting. Outside the front of the store stands a ivory coloured Cadillac: the lovely models draping themselves across it's shiny veneer and providing the absolute essence of old world glamour. The photograhers had moved out into the street and the camera flashes were going wild, all of the attention slowing and stopping cars and passersby alike. There's nothing quite as alluring as the promise of fame, or in this case, the promise of seeing famous people in their ultra-glamorous paparazzi swamped environment. Although not (yet) A-list celebs, the models and talented photographers provided a little bit of essence for that for Toorak bystanders.

I made alot of new friends and it was a really wonderful experience getting to spend more time hanging out with the lovely Lynette Pater (stylist amongst the pantheon of stars) and Judith Penak (creative force of nature/absolute darling). They always make me feel so welcome, and it was a glittery glamorous and decadent evening i certainly won't forget xx
