2015 Spring/Summer / HNY! / Blog-Renovations

Happy New Year you lovely bunch! 2015 has kicked off and it's already like nothing else! Seriously what a year this is going to be!??!

It's been such an amazing couple of days so far I can't believe how ready I was to hit the ground running for a brand new year. New goals, aspirations and those blissfully naïve resolutions, as well as new wishlists and brimming booklists. On top of that, a pretty earnest desire to take better care of myself this year, and make a few lifestyle changes (here's looking at you allnighters, double espressos, crazy boyfs [a scandal, how salacious!]: all that jazz) it's a new year in which to knuckle down and focus on all of the important things I want to work on: namely university and designing, writing and blogging and also a little bit of networking this year as well. I found that with everything going on last year that I left professional socialising a little at the wayside and I'm looking to get that into ship shape again in 2015. Life is too short to be stressed and panicked the whole time, and that's what I've decided to accept for this year, and also to approach things a little differently: namely without so much pressure. And to find the enjoyable aspects of every assignment and task sent my way (must sound a little nuts, but it's early enough in the year for me to hope that sort of thing will actually happen)

In other news, I'm also turning 21 in just under two months. It's pretty exciting but i'm also a bit lost for all the general "stuff" that needs thinking about in the countdown to hitting this number. Drivers License, Party, Gift Hints....well so far they're the only few i'm thinking about. Also trying to conceive setting up a separate saving plan for travel in the uni holidays. Shanghai is still top of the list, otherwise Hvar or New York (oh how I could rant!)

And then on a totally different note again, I've decided to upgrade the blog aesthetic, starting with the name. To explain quickly, THE HOUSE OF YOUDEN is the name I've dreamed of titling my line since I decided I wanted to become a designer. I had also gotten a few emails from people who didn't really understand the first choice of name D.E.C.S (Double Espresso Couture Shot) It seemed apropos to pick a name that was more in tune with my design aspirations. That, and I thought to myself "...hell why not, they may as well get used to hearing the name as early as possible" And you'll have to forgive that surge of arrogance there, I'm just sooo excited about all of the new projects I've got happening. The first of which I've got to show you in the images below.

This set of images is a photoshoot for my final look for Semester Two of my University Second Year. I designed a Top and Skirt and then created them using black and white stretch jerseys. The project started from examining the way T-shirts and their fabrics stretch over the body, and then I started trying to manipulate between the fabric stretching over the female form and draping. I think these techniques are then dramatized and exaggerated with the use of striped fabric. The first person to thank for this is my wonderful stunning regally dropdead gorgeous friend Ariana for helping me model the finished look. Thankyou for being a darling and making me laugh the whole time and not stress about the billion and one things due a day later.

Of course in regards to the shoot location I couldn't have been luckier either. The possibility of finding a house as magnificent as this in Australia to shoot let alone closeby was magical and just felt utterly fated. I well and truly felt like I'd stepped back in time to a Gilded Age soirée and I have to thank my wonderful new friend Con for letting us get a glimpse and shooting in your new home, it was a dream come true and you made us feel very welcome amongst the vast lawns of perfect green and immaculate white stone statues. Well and truly a day in illusion, things coulndn't have gone more splendidly. I'll include a full post of the shoot details in the coming couple of days

I've attached all of the pictures below for you all to take a look. And here's hoping I can post up more of what i've been working on very soon.

HNY! Welcome 2015!!!

xoxo
