Haute parfums and Tennis Neons

The weather in this city has always had a free spirit, putting it lightly. It's that one rambunctious rebellious child that none of the other Australian cities have ever quite understood, and more often than not consequence of it's bipolar swings in nature are the general publics need to carry multiple layers. The result is something fascinating yet often exceedingly amusing. Women in short shorts stand in tow next to men rugged up in light thermals and overcoats. And vice versa depending where in the city you head...
There were a couple of rainy dismal and cold days over the past week, and the only way in which I like to enjoy those sorts of conditions is underneath my favourite coat, snuggled in two pairs of socks and feeling utterly carresed by a scarf of the softest cashmere. The alternative to this tried and true method is following Melbourne's suit and packing on a billion and one layers in all shapes and sizes. I always love the novelty of layering because it just turns into so much fun. Altering layer after layer (by rolling or tucking) is something like peeling an onion, but I love exposing the different shells and shaped layers that make up the outfit. In honour of standing on a tennis court while i took these pictures (and fuelled by the desire to add a touch of liveliness) I found a few little neon accessories to add to the look. I also had quite an adventure home-making my lapel pin in a matching coloured tweed. Little adventures :P
Now even though it's been out on the market for quite a few years i've only just experienced the olfactory wonder that is YSL's M7 Oud Absolu. Let me just say first off that anything Woody, Oriental or Spicy in scent makes me obsessed. To me they seem exotic and adventurous, evoking imagery of faraway lands and journeys yet to be taken.
Now I don't mean to say that rain and weather changes suddenly wash off fragrances altogether, but it's always nice to have one on that powers through all the weather changes and feels appropriate whatever Melbourne has in store. So behold my list of fragrances for Melbournes crazy season.
It feels good to be back, have missed you guys
